Northern Symphony is my project. I document North Cyprus that is beautiful as a symphony. I will try to be as I could be patient, careful and observer while listening this symphony. I hope you also like while listening as me.

The sunset from Besparmak mountain. One of
villager was feeding his horse at the side of the mountain and I was lucky because with the atmosphere the silhouette of horse was a gift to me.

Sunrise from Glapsides

Glapsides is one of the popular beaches in North Cyprus. I always thought that the sunrise should be also very nice in this beach. I decided to go to this beach at a morning and I was right. The sunrise was breathtaking. There was many people at that time at the beach. I was lucky because a lady was walking on the beach and she became my silhouette with bamboo umbrella.

PS. The quality of the photo is not perfect because the original of this photo is positive. I had to scan it and my scanner is not good.

Fishing festival

Every year there is festival regardibg the fishing. Last year (2005) I decided to participate to this festival but not for fishing just for taking the picture. I understand that like photographers fishers wake up very early for fishing.

This picture has been in the eastern part of North Cyprus called Dipkarpaz. The sun was nearly rised. The weather was cloudy and the sun was trying to show its face to the fisher but cloud was blocking this. But at that moment, sun found a way to show its rays and the fisher girl was my main subject as silhouette with a nice complementary sun rays...

City walls of Famagusta

Until the year 1489 the Lusignian walls surrounding Famagusta were of a thin texture although being very high. Later on the Venetians invaded Cyprus and with the intention of taking safety measures and making it durable against fire arms. Furthermore a 46 m wide ditch filled up with water was opened to the parts of the walls remaining outside the city. These 3km long walls of 18m height and some parts having a 9m width were made of large cut stones.

I waited for a while in order not to take the picture without human being. After a while, this lady started to climb steps with her son and get the picture. I was lucky for red tshirt. Now if you want to take the same picture, I will say it is not possible. Because this year a guard bar has been built on the steps in order to prevent any accident. My grandmother

My grandmother. Now she is 82 years old. She is really very nice. Nowadays, her blue eyes get weak and she can not see well. She lives in Balalan village, Karpaz. As I posted, Karpaz people are very friendly and very hospitable.

She will always be my best model for my portraits.

Liazrds were our toys when I was young and we had tried to catch them to play and unfortunately sometimes to sacrifice them for our surgical operations :)) please do not think that I am
murderer...

It was a sunny spring. We were outside to feel the sun as this lovely animal. But it was still self-possessed. Maybe his mother warned it about our surgical operations :)) (Canon 1Ds Mark II, lens 100-400 @Hasan Bilgehan)

PS. I have to say something about Karpaz. Karpaz is the region at the eastern Cyprus. It is the main agriculture part. There are many village to visit and believe me that photographers will like to take picture in these villages because the people are so friendly. Also there are many wild donkey that is characterised for this region. I like Karpaz...

Arap Ahmet

Here is Arap Ahmet. A nice region in North Nicosia. I am ashamed that I discovered this place in 2005. Actually I always heard but I never visit this place. Now I am very regretful because of loss. But I am consoled that at least I discovered this place :))

Arap Ahmet is one the oldest places in Nicosia, but nowadays the old buildings has started to be restored (also we must restore the mentality of the people !!!) This picture shows the one side of a building. I think this building is an
exhibition center.

I feel that the blurred man represent ourselves and the wall is our lives, sometimes colorful, sometimes black & white and sometimes old as the side that paint fell down (Canon 1Ds Mark II, lens 16-35 @Hasan Bilgehan)

Sunset behind Lala

The sunset is always magnificent in North Cyprus especially if you are in front of the silhouette of Lala...

This photo has been taken on the city walls of Canbulat gate. I remeber that the season was spring. As I said the sunset is magnificent because the weather is very clear. Only some cloud will follow your picture as a complementary (Canon 300D, lens 18-55 @Hasan Bilgehan)

Here is Lala. I mean Lala Mustafa Pasa Mosque. It has been also called St Nicholas Cathedral. One of the most popular architectural structure and I also like to take photo around this area :)) because of that, I can say that I have alot of photo from this area. I claim and insist on that this is the most beautiful architectural structure in all Cyprus (gothic). The photographers will always like the light before the sunset. I should say that this photo has been taken in 2004 (Canon 300D, 18-55 mm lens @Hasan Bilgehan)

This photo has been taken in the old city of Famagusta in North Cyprus. While I was taking the picture, somone has passed in front of me and those have been captured by accident. In old city there are many old houses that belong to English, Turkish and Greek architectural structure.
